LAPTOPS

If you are the one who's always on the move, then a laptop is what you need. They are completely portable, use less power and make less noise as compared to a desktop model.Laptops are definitely more expensive than desktops but the price gap is getting closer. Laptops are becoming the main computer for many. These laptops outsold the desktop models for the first time in May 2005. According to Digit magazine these form almost 24% of total pc sales. The reason why people prefer these laptops is the fact that they are less bulky. It is mainly for those who travel around too much. For the rest it doesn't make any sense to spend a hefty amount for it. FOR DETAILS CLICK HERE

Soaring inflation likely to hit India's power projects

To achieve the power generation targets fixed in the 11th Plan period, the government may have to revise the investment in power projects in view of 25 per cent rise in prices of key input materials including cement, steel, aluminum, copper and zinc over last two years, an ASSOCHAM Eco Pulse (AEP) Study has revealed. With WPI based inflation rate hovering close to 12 per cent and expected to be in double digits for quite some time, the proposed power projects in India could take a hit from increased cost of inputs and a recent down-turn in the core infrastructure industrial productivity, according to AEP Study on “Impact of Inflation on the Power Projects”. Why Americans refuse to pay more for oil

Bullion values turned lower once again following yesterday's GDP-related and mostly technical bounce. Overnight trading brought prices down to a low of near $906 per ounce, as the US dollar picked up a few notches on the index (@ 73.30) as well against the euro which fell after BMW abandoned sales and profit forecasts due to slumping US sales.Oil gave up nearly one dollar and traded near $123 per barrel as news that Chinese manufacturing showed signs of slowing hit the wires. Copper, zinc and aluminium futures all lost ground on the Shanghai Exchange today. Not helping matters for black gold were yesterday's US GDP figures for Q4 2007 and this morning's $15 billion Q2 2008 loss reported by GM. Demand destruction continues from the assembly line to the gas pump. for details http://www.commodityonline.com/ndtv/news/topstorydetails.php?id=10842visithttp://www.commodityonline.com/ndtv/news/topstorydetails.php?id=10842

Indian firms purchase cotton from Pakistan

Indian firms have purchased 10,000 cotton bales from Pakistan at 75 cents per pound for urgent delivery, leading to an increase in the price of the commodity in local markets.
As enquiries poured in from Indian importers, the local prices of cotton rose by Rs 100 to Rs 4,100 per mound on Monday.
Higher raw cotton prices in India, ranging between 82 and 84 cents per pound, have forced the Indian spinning industry to approach Pakistani exporters to procure cotton at cheap rates.
Naseem Usman, a cotton broker, told the Dawn newspaper that if the current pace of booking by Indian spinners continued, local prices would go up further and this would adversely impact the domestic textile industry.
Market sources said Indian cotton traders had made excessive exports in the last season and this resulted in a shortage of the commodity in the Indian market.
During the last season, Pakistan's spinning industry imported around 2.2 million bales from India at a cost of Rs 40 billion.
